2007-2008 Family Partnership Campaign

Family Partnership is a campaign conducted by adults to support Girl Scouting throughout the council area. Funds help pay for low or no cost services provided to troops such as leader training, printed resource materials like T.I.P.S., staff support for Service Units, camp expenses such as veterinary bills, pool maintenance, camp utilities and other costs not fully-covered by fees.

Leaders, your support is needed for the Girl Scout Family Partnership Campaign!  Please contact a Service Unit Team member or Council support person to talk to your parents about donating to the Girl Scouts of Tejas Council.  Our Sevice Unit's Goal can be met if EVERY registered girl's family were to donate only $6.  Since we do not have 100% participation, donations higher than $6 are required.  Let's all work together to have families give to Girl Scouting!

The service unit Family Partnership Advocates for the Family Partnership Campaign are Andrea Keller and Susan Ivey.

Training

We maintain that the strength of the Girl Scout Movement rests in the volunteer leadership of its adult members. Through this leadership, girls are provided Girl Scouting. To ensure quality programs, volunteers will participate in basic training for their jobs within six months of appointment. They are strongly encouraged to participate in ongoing training for the improvement of skills. Basic training is designed for adult volunteers who are actively working with girls on regular basis as a member of the troop leadership team.

Basic troop program training courses are:

  • Introduction to Girl Scouting - an online course for new leaders
  • Connect With Your Troop - the one and a half hour course for new leaders who have completed the online introduction to Girl Scouting
  • Appropriate Basic Program Age Level Course called "Connect with" Daisies, , Brownies, Juniorcs, or Older Girls (ages 11-17)

Additional Training that Each Troop Needs:

         First Aid and CPR

         Discover Troop Camping
